What Mommy Does All Day

A recent conversation with Natalie:

Mommy: "What is your daddy's job?"
Natalie: "He's a doctor"
Mommy: "What does he do all day?"
Natalie: "He helps sick people"
Mommy: "What is mommy's job, what do I do all day?"
Natalie: "I don't know....dishes....and a little bit of laundry!"

Valentine's Day

Our V-Day was pretty low key, seeing as Natalie threw up four times the night before (talk about Friday the 13th). We were supposed to go to a party at one of her friends house, but obviously we had to skip. We spent the day at home instead. David and I rented Madagascar 2 and got a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's and enjoyed a glass of wine after the kids went to bed. Oh how different holidays are once you have kids!

I can't explain this

If you have an almost three year old in your house, you understand.

North Carolina

So, I brought the kids to grandma on Thurs. Jan 29th, left for North Carolina early Fri. 30 and returned to pick them up on Saturday Feb. 7...that's 9 days and 9 nights away from my kids. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I planned a trip that long. It was during a crazy week, I'm sure. David's conference in Charlotte ran from Sat Jan 21 through noon on Feb 3, and then he had to spend half the day on Wed. with the fellowship coordinator at OrthoCarolina, so we really only had three days of vacation. I enjoyed the sleeping in and sightseeing alone though.

Most of all, I think I enjoyed only worrying about me and what I would need to get through the day...no diapers, bottles, naps, snacks or meltdowns to consider. Wow. I visited the Levine Museum of the New South, The Billy Graham Library, the South Park Mall, and the Mint Museum of Art on my own. David and I went to Chimney Rock Park, Latta Plantation and Equestrian Center and NarroWay Theater together. It was a great trip, but I am glad to be a mommy again.
